Room Orientation Description

While the Performance Seating application may be used for many types of venues beyond auditoriums and theatres, including ballrooms, sports stadiums, and conference facilities, the application does use the vernacular of a performance space to describe seat orientation.  As such, it is important to understand House Left and House Right.

House Left / House Right

In order to allow automation of some functions, the seating application needs to understand the relationship of the audience member / patron to the viewing area.  To achieve this, it considers the orientation of the room and the row relative to the patron facing the viewing area, where the House Left side of a Row is on the patron's left, and the House Right side of a Row is on the patron's right.  This is primarily used to associate seat numbering scheme starting end of a row.
