Row Reference Lines
Row Reference Line Description
The Performance Seating application uses model lines as references for seat row placement. Each row or row section requires a model line placed in plan and given a Center Aligned or End Aligned linestyle to use as a reference for a series of seats. The application finds the length of the line, and determines the quantity, sizes, and orders of the seats based on the selected calculations. The seats are then placed such that the center insertion point of the seat is placed on the line (if a straight segment), or on the chord of the line (if an arced segment).
A Center Aligned linestyle places the seats relative to the center of the model line arc, providing an equal distance between the end of the line and the first or last seat.
An End Aligned linestyle places the seats starting at the end of the line closest to the focus point assigned to that row. The intent is to allow rows at the sides of a seating area to align evenly with the inside aisle.
Row Reference Line Hosting
Revit requires a model line to be hosted to a Level or Workplane, and the same is true for Row Reference Lines. It is helpful to ensure that the reference line is either hosted to the nominal level of the view that will show the seats, or a workplane in that same view. Since model lines are dimensional elements, they can be inadvertently hidden by floors or other objects if the view is set for anything except Wireframe. A way to mitigate this is to place a workplane above the highest tier or slope elevation, and force the application to look "down" for the floor to set the seat elevation. See Setting an Elevation Alignment for more information.
Troubleshooting Reference Line Issues
It is critical that the reference line is either created with the Place Reference tool, or that an existing line is set to the appropriate linestyle indicated in the Settings. The application will only allow selection of the center or end aligned style named in the Settings.
A reference line can occasionally cause seats to face the wrong direction depending on the focus point. If the seats do not align as expected, try adjusting the focus point temporarily to see if the problem is resolved. Please also notify the Developer with a screen shot of the issue showing the focus point for evaluation.
